Introduction
Dr. Daniel Haders II is CEO of Model Medicines. He leads business operations and supports scientific/technological and regulatory operations. He has 20 years of experience in Healthcare as a scientist, entrepreneur, advisor & investor. As a scientist and pharmaceutical development leader, he has worked with Sean Russell at venture backed biopharma start-up Lux Biosciences where they collaborated to move Lux’s LX214 program from inception through a successful Phase I clinical program. The formulation underpinning LX214 was recently approved by the FDA under the name CEQUA. Commercially, he helped orchestrate biologics focused start-up QuiO’s partnership with global drug delivery leader SHL Group. As an investor, he has served as the Managing Director, Healthcare at Nex Cubed, a Frontier Technology Venture Studio and Seed Investor, where he has overseen a portfolio of 23 Digital Healthcare companies that have raised over $30M in capital. In late 2018, he launched Nex Cubed's Digital Health Accelerator, which was named one of the Top Ten Global Digital Health Accelerators and is one of the most active digital healthcare investors in the industry, deploying $3M across 16 investments in 2019. He is also an Operating Partner at Sway Ventures, a US-based venture capital firm with $300M+ in Assets Under Management (AUM) and a Board Observer at AppliedVR, which holds numerous NIH grants. He holds a BS from Columbia University (NYC) in Biomedical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University. He is a US Department of Education, GAANN Fellow in Molecular, Cellular and Nanosystems Engineering and a National Science Foundation, IGERT Fellow in Integratively Engineered Biointerfaces. He was also a Recognized Visiting Graduate Student at Oxford University and holds a Certificate in Leadership and Strategy in Pharma and Biotech from the Harvard School of Business. He is a Faculty Member and Member of the Advisory Committee of the UCSD, Digital Health Certificate Program, and he is an Advisor to UCSF’s Catalyst Translational Research Office. He has authored 2 patents and 5 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and given invited lectures at international conferences and symposia.
